johnny  ostrem.., aka,..."johnny o", has been performing behind the drumkit for over 40 years....always active in studio and live performance drumming, with 10+ studio albums, several compilation cds over 30 years and hundreds of live performances around the united states... johnny is still rockin it....and lovin it in 2022!

he is currently the drummer for His original rock band, "The Darkest Harbor", 

Johnny O has spent 3 decades traveling  the united states , living, studio recording and  performing live in some of the most inspirational, iconic and infamous musical hotspots around the country. ...also drum tracking and composing original music in his own studio that he launched in 2009,...
the drum tower studios and sonic illustrations out of austin, Texas and redmond, washington.

his past musical endeavors have assisted in forming whom Johnny has become to this day as a high level drummer, stage performer, music composer and audio engineer...."I am truly grateful for all of my former bandmates over the years who have taught me so many lessons about life and music...thank you."

johnny has had the opportunity to share stages with some of the most influential names in the industry and has worked  with Grammy award nominated music producers in world class studios in texas and seattle.

He spent 2015 residing in los angeles, ca where he was  active with video auditions for nikki sixx's sideband from motley crue, "sixx am". 
he rehearsed 6 days a week, 4 to 5 hours daily for 3 months in the simi valley, perfecting a 50 song music catalog for a potential drummers position....great fun and hard work.
He also had the opportunity to audition for  several La based groups while he was there from Hollywood, Sacramento and anaheim....

in the mid 1990's, while the seattle grunge scene was in full flavor, johnny shifted gears from performing standard rock  and grunge and joined up with an industrial metal powerhouse from denver, colorado..."rorschach test".
also great fun, great  recording and performing live and sharing the stages with The presidents of the united states, korn, grace and carcass.....to name a few.

following his departure from rorschach test after recording tracks for their 2nd release, "unclean", in el paso, texas, johnny was asked to join the band contingence, consisting of all former members of rorschach test.
he remained active with contingence, in studio and live performance for over 12 years until all members went their separate ways to persue alternative musical opportunities, and also to relocate around the country.

2002 brought johnny and his wife abbie to the northeast for awhile until he flew down to austin to record an album...the warmer climate was a factor after that session and they made the move to austin from Maine, whereas johnny joined an up and coming industrial band and had the pleasure of performing around the great state of texas for a couple of years...."pulse faction".

moving back to the pacific northwest for several years offered up another unique opportunity for johnny.... to spend time in his recording and rehearsal studio refining his craft and technique behind the kit for studio and Live performance opportunities  for artists operating at the highest level .

johnny and his wife abbie currently reside on an island estate  in the gulf of maine.
